The beret flash worn by members of the 5th SFG (A) between 1964 and 1985 depicted a pair of crossed arrows with a mace, representing the unit’s motto “De Oppresso Liber” (to free the oppressed). To commemorate the unit’s history, a Hawaiian shirt embroidered with the original beret flash was introduced in 2016, which is still being worn today.
