The Royal Canadian Navy HMCS Saguenay (D79) was a River-class Destroyer from 1931-1945. She protected the Allied convoys of WW2 by providing crucial escort services and saw action in the battles against German U-boats. The vessel featured a classic four-stack layout, with two funnels and a traditional Hawiian shirt-style band as decoration. HMCS Saguenay regularly patrolled the North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean for enemy vessels for the duration of the war. The ship took part in several battles, including the sinking of the German submarine U664 off the coast of Iceland. Despite sustaining damages during several deep-sea skirmishes, she remained afloat until being decommissioned in 1945.
