The 364th Fighter Squadron, part of the 357th Fighter group, is an Air Combat Command unit of the United States Air Force stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. Established in October 1943 and activated in November of the same year, the squadron has fought in both World War II and the Korean War. Having been re-designated on several occasions, the squadron currently serves as a training operation for prospective A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots. Equipped with the renowned “Warthog”, the squadron has been the champion of the William Tell gunnery competition for six years in a row. This fierce war machine was retired in 1957 and sold to become a civilian race plane, earning several awards over the years. The plane was later acquired by the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California and recently restored to its original glory, and is now registered with the FAA as N151MW.
