The 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (LAR) is a fast, flexible, and highly mobile armored battallion of the US Marine Corps. It was activated in May 1984 and has taken part in every major combat operation since then. The unit is structured to specialize in reconnaissance, security, rapid deployment, and special operations. It is composed of four maneuver companies (each with three LAV platoons) and an HQ company. Its all-terrain vehicles provide enhanced speed and agility, and it’s infantry are equipped with the latest high-tech weapons and night vision equipment. The U.S. Marines’ 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (LAR) sported a unique look in 2005 when they loaded up in their Lav-25 Piranha armored vehicles with the M242 Bushmaster chain guns mounted, wearing Hawaiian shirts! The LAV-25 is an 8×8 wheeled amphibious armored reconnaissance vehicle used by the Marines as a light armored vehicle for scouting and other missions. It is equipped with the 25mm M242 Bushmaster chain gun and a 7.62mm machine gun. The LAR deployed with these vehicles around the world, providing quick mobility and powerful offensive capability. They were also known to wear Hawaiian shirts during some of their deployments, adding a bit of fun to their challenging missions.If you want another color or a different style, you can visit Hawaiian Shirt.
