The 2nd Bridge Engineer Regiment is an active duty unit of the United States Army and has been serving in the country since 1877. The team consists of five battalions and is responsible for maintaining, managing, constructing, and repairing bridges, as well as other structures on and off the battlefield. The bridge engineers were responsible for the engineering, assembly, and operation of the pontoon bridge, which served as a temporary passageway for the armoured vehicle. The regiment took on the responsibility of ensuring that the tank was safely and quickly transported across the river, helping to further the division’s mission and goals.
