Joe Kapp, one of the great American heroes, passed away at the age of 83. A native of Santa Fe, California and an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley, Joe Kapp was a legendary name in the sports world during his lifetime. Kapp’s career highlights include winning the Grey Cup with the Canadian Football League’s British Columbia Lions in 1963, winning the Super Bowl with the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings in 1969, and coaching for the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders in the early 90s. He also served as president of the Florida Football Alliance and was inducted into the Canada Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
